The Foundation Proudly Celebrates March 25th
On Saturday, March 25, 2017, the Greek community will celebrate the 196th anniversary of Greek Independence. This day commemorates the beginning of the fight for Greek independence in 1821 against the Ottoman Empire. On this holiday, we celebrate our past with a deep sense of pride as we remember our Hellenic ancestors and honor the sacrifices they made so many years ago.
Our celebration of Greek Independence Day coincides with our religious holiday, the celebration of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and told her that she would give birth to the Son of God.
Just as our heroes fought for freedom in 1821, we now look forward to a better future, and work to liberate the minds and encourage the dreams of young Hellenes through their education. In that spirit, the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation continues to promote education by providing scholarships to exceptional Greek American college students. This year, the Foundation will once again offer $250,000 in awards to outstanding undergraduates at the upcoming Awards Ceremony & Gala on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
Long Live March 25th!
