STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE NATION APPLY FOR THE PANHELLENIC AWARDS

The deadline of January 31, 2014 has now passed and the submission period for the PanHellenic applications is now closed. We commend all the applicants for their pursuit of a PanHellenic Scholarship Award and wish them all continued academic success. “Although every year we maintain the high level of our qualifying criteria, it has not deterred a large number of students from applying.  The Foundation's standards guarantee that the best and brightest young men and women from all 50 States have an opportunity to achieve their educational goals and become enlightened and engaged citizens,” said Chris P. Tomaras, Founder and Chairman of the Foundation.

The applications are currently being processed and will be delivered to the Foundation's Academic Committee this month for review and selection. Applicants from across the United States have applied and represent multiple disciplines from universities including The University of Chicago, The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Pennsylvania State University, Johns Hopkins University and many more. All applicants will be notified by April 15, 2014.  The Foundation will again offer a quarter of a million dollars to the selected recipients.

"I felt incredibly honored to receive such a prestigious award and be amongst some of the most talented and intelligent Greek Americans from across the nation. I plan to always live up to the expectations set forth by the organization and hope that when my studies conclude that I too will be able to support the next generation of Greek Americans to pursue their own dreams through education and Hellenism."

STAVROS NIARCHOS FOUNDATION 4-YEAR SCHOLARSHIPS CONCLUDE

In October 2010, the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation was awarded two 4-year scholarships from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation totaling $80,000.  The two selected recipients—Mina Zissopoulos of New York University and Andreas Kalantzis of The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign—each received $40,000 toward their higher education ($10,000 each year for four years.)  The two recipients were recently awarded their final installment and we thank the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for their support of education through these life-changing grants.  Both recipients are graduating this Spring—Mina is on a pre-med track who will receive her degree in Psychology and Andreas in Health Administration and Spanish.  We congratulate them both and wish them continued success in all of their future endeavors.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR AN UNFORGETTABLE EVENING

This year, the Scholarship Awards Gala will take place at the Hilton Chicago on Saturday, June 14, 2014 and will begin with the awards ceremony, followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing.  In addition to the Scholarship Awards that evening, the Paradigm Award will also be bestowed upon a successful Greek American. The Foundation will announce our Paradigm Award honoree, Master of Ceremonies and the Entertainment program of the evening very soon—so please stay tuned.
